Hirak Mazumder

I am an artist from Bangalore, born and brought up in Guwahati. With the nature of work I am into, with time and space, I have travelled though the length and breadth of our country.

Being an artist who uses his creativity to express himself and to connect with others, I am inspired by the beauty of the world around me and I strive to create art that is both visually appealing and thought-provoking. Sometime my work is to re-create a scene which people can always connect with and feel nostalgic about. Some of my other work revolves around Hindu mythology and Buddhism Mantras or may be the force of Nature though the strength of muscle or the force of water. I also like to capture the different expressions and gestures of Human faces.

The canvas is my life where I work with a variety of mediums, including Oil Painting, Acrylic, Charcoal, soft pastel and water colour. While experimenting with new techniques and materials, I always look for new ways to express my ideas. I feel what makes my art unique is the way I portray the nuances of my subjects and the way I take inspirations from nature that is compelling and display the myriad of colours.

My art is often personal and introspective, but it is also about the world around me. I am very passionate and interested in exploring the situations around the world and I hope that my art can help others to see the world in a new way.

Title: The Hidden Oasis
Medium: Acrylic
About: Close your eyes. Keep swiping the routine. Let the daily imagery, surroundings, crowd, noise and chaos, flicker, until your vision meets space and your soul finds silence. Enter the cross section and explore your Hidden Oasis.
It’s Vintage. It has the beginning story. It carries the chastity of your soul. The blend of Blue that commingles, lakes, mountains and skies resonate with our hearts that seek limitlessness, freedom, liberation. The calmness of colour composition lures you to stay. This reserve of nature invites you to be like Her, wild yet quaint, vigorous yet deep, varied yet detailed.
The morning moon is the witness, how all this comes to life when you enter and traverse through. I entered as a White Crane, And you?

Title: The Sculptor
Medium: Acrylic
About: Sometimes we are lost just because we are not aware, what are we finding. Once we do, we find the ways to begin afresh. And once we find it’s us who was to be found, the ways find us.
She is the sculptor. She is real. Like you and me with a little difference though. It seems to be a tiny, trivial difference that separates her from us. She remembers her cast and mould. She dodges the dust that often sits on her, the scratches that try to mar because she remembers. She carries her tools and takes the plunge to restart again, anywhere, anytime. She wakes up and redefines herself, every day, every hour. She is not wary of the outer world because she knows, she is the sculptor, of herself.

Uttara Asthana

UttaraAsthanais a self-taught painter. She was a qualified school teacher and a post graduate in Management before she delved full time into oils and acrylics on canvas. She has also exhibited at the prestigious Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad.

The painting she is exhibiting, ‘Krishna’, is created in the typical traditional Kerala mural style. The primer, the organic colours, yellow, green, blue, red and black are painstakingly extracted through different natural and time cosuming processes. Hence, they will shine in their full glory four years from now. Only then will the mural painting be varnished with the typical mural laquer- derived from plants. Till then “Krishna” mural needs to be kept away from water/liquid. Only dry cleaning is enough.

In this 35 inch by 24 inch labour of love, not only are the ingredients conventionally derived as per Kerala folklore, the designs and proportions (‘angula’ and ‘talam’) are loyal to the age old Kerala tradition.

DR RAMESH KANDAGIRI

Ramesh Kandagiri (b. 1965) is a Contemporary Artist specialising in Painting, Installation and Collage. He is an Art Educator, Art Advisor and Professor in Painting, in the prestigious College of Art New Delhi.
His creative process, he firmly believes in the paradox of contrary dual energies which create the human sublime an important element being the simultaneity of chaos and creation, embodied in the “Shiva-Tandava.” These dualistic energies are his creative muse.

Ramesh Kandagiri’s art also espouses the perennial renewal of individualism and his art encounters the plane of immanence, deeper philosophical and aesthetic questions which he melds in his art practice. Also notable is his concept of the “Tripartite Transformation” where ideas, media and consciousness lead to a fluidity, a state of flow where the distinction between ‘abstract’ and ‘concrete’ dissolves. He calls this state the “Para Real Abstraction,” a transcendence, a subtle and fine sublimation.

His artistic perspective is deeply rooted in the lens of human experience, which shape his thoughts and reactions, becoming the focal point of his creations. Shuvendu’s paintings are an extremely evocative response to the change and progress heralded by Digital India. One of the running thematic concerns of his artworks is the significance and need of a Gandhian perspective in the world today.  Shuvendu’s paintings also grapple with issues of migration and partition trauma as he hearkens back to the values of Gandhi as a bridge between the past and the present and as a valuable path towards a more humanitarian ethic.
